What We Do

The Council serves CUPE locals in the geographical region within (but not exclusive to) the lower mainland of British Columbia.

We have over 30 locals affiliated to the Council. The opportunity for delegates of these locals to come together at meetings 8-9 times a year helps build solidarity and power in the regional setting. The roles the Council plays are primarily information sharing and advocacy coordinating.

Committees

CUPE Metro holds elections every 2 years to have a member delegate of the Council sit on each of CUPE BC’s committees.

We also create ad hoc committees for our fundraising and outreach activities such as the annual International Women’s Day lunch event and participation in events in the broader labour movement such as Pride and Labour Day. Delegates are invited to volunteer for these.

Bursary

The CUPE Metro bursaries purpose is to support career progression and professional development, assist Metro locals and/or members pursuing education in their sector or profession and to support members during continuing education, post secondary, or online courses.
