Attend the Metro Vancouver Alliance (MVA) Delegates Assembly May 1st

CUPE Metro is a member organization of the MVA and takes an active role in the governance and activities of the Alliance. Mark your calendar for MVA’s upcoming Delegates’ Assembly on May 1st from 7-9 PM at St. Thomas More Collegiate (7450 12th Ave, Burnaby, BC)!

The Delegates Assembly will be an opportunity for representatives of MVA’s member organizations to collectively make a decision about an Affordable Housing campaign, make institutional commitments to action, and build connections across the Alliance.

Each member organization is asked to send 2-3 voting delegates to the Assembly as representatives of their organization. Any additional leaders are welcome!

West Coast Leaf Equality Breakfast (for Dinner!)

Join us on Wednesday, March 24, 6:30-7:45 p.m., at Breakfast for Dinner, a unique virtual celebration. This is the Equality Breakfast you know and love, now in the evening and on Zoom! Join us on your own, cozied up with your household or bubble, or alongside your colleagues for a joyous and thought-provoking evening, all for a great cause.

This year, we are thrilled to present Know Us by the Stories We Tell: Imagining the Future as a Feminist Practice, a discussion featuring Kali Spitzer, photographer; El Jones, spoken word poet, educator, journalist, and community activist; and Jules Arita Koostachin, writer, performance artist, academic, and filmmaker, in conversation with CBC’s Vancouver’s Gloria Macarenko.

This is West Coast LEAF’s main fundraiser of the year and your support goes directly into our work to change the laws, policies and systems that harm the most marginalized people. Together, we can co-create a society that is just, equitable, and free from discrimination.

While we will miss tucking into poached eggs and copious coffee bright and early in the lush Hotel Vancouver ballroom, we are excited to move online and be able to welcome those who are geographically distant and might not be able to attend in a typical year. Live captioning and ASL interpretation will be available.

Another bonus to holding our event virtually is that we are also going online with our beloved silent auction! You will have several days to peruse and bid on the coveted items and services you most want prior to the event, so stay tuned for more details.

We respectfully acknowledge that this event is taking place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded homelands of xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations—where many of us are settlers or uninvited guests.
